Program Outcomes
The following are student learning outcomes for the Associate of Applied Science in Western States CAT Technician at CWI:
Students will:
- Demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and skills that are identified by Western States Equipment Co. for the purpose of becoming a successful entry level Heavy Equipment Technician. Areas of skill development include:
- Electrical Systems
- Engine and Fuel Systems
- Mobile Hydraulic Systems
- Powertrains
- Preventive Maintenance and HVAC
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of safety practices specifically related to heavy equipment repair including Western States CAT, CWI, AED, S.D.S., and OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and behaviors consistent with Western States CAT’s Customer Centric Culture policies.
- Locate and utilize service information and specifications in service manuals and web based information systems.
- Utilize diesel engine technology that is consistent with industry standards.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate practiced written and oral communication skills.
- Read, interpret, and communicate basic mathematical concepts.
